Our next evening talk will be on Friday 5 February at 7pm and will be given by Squadron Leader Martin Withers DFC.

Martin Withers was the commander of Vulcan XM607 which bombed Port Stanley Airfield on 1 May 1982 – supported by a fleet of Victor tanker aircraft over its 8,000 mile round trip, the Black Buck 1 mission was a masterpiece of precision military flying and air to air refuelling. The bombing of the runway at Port Stanley denied the use of the runway to Argentine fast jets and undoubtedly saved many British lives.

Join us to hear Martin’s own account of the Black Buck missions he and other RAF crews flew in the short but intensive campaign to liberate the Falkland Islands. Martin Withers has retired from the RAF but still flies Vulcan XH558 as chief pilot of the “Vulcan To The Sky Trust.”

Entrance is £5 with proceeds going to the “Vulcan to the Sky Trust”. Food and Drink will be available.
