2013 was the 70th anniversary of Old Buckenham's opening. Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart was Operations Officer and Walther Matthau served here.

On Remembrance Sunday 2014, we opened the new 453rd Bombardment Group Museum.

In early 2023 it'll merge with oldbuck.com with more content and information about the Museum opening hours. Very few museums like this are open every week throughout the year - the current hours are Friday to Sunday 1000-1600.

Two years after the opening of the 453rd Museum, we added to it with the creation of the 8th Air Force Heritage Gallery. Opened on Remembrance Sunday 2017, the new gallery allows a far greater collection to be exhbited, relating to the Mighty 8th Air Force, of which the 453rd were a part. Please click here for the Gallery's website.

The 453rd flew 259 missions in B-24 Liberators. They dropped 15,804 tonnes of bombs and in the process lost 58 aircraft. Most importantly 366 servicemen lost their lives serving from Old Buckenham. In time for the 70th Anniversary the memorial to the 366 has been moved to a new memorial garden, with a figure 8 path to mark the 8th Air Force.
